Sydenham Biodiversity Events
Garlic Mustard Pull-and-Plant
Date: Wednesday, May 6, 2026
Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Location: Sydenham Escarpment Nature Reserve
The Sydenham Club Biodiversity Team is looking for volunteers to help with an exciting project at the Sydenham Escarpment Reserve.
Last year, we pulled a huge amount of garlic mustard from this property. This year, we are going back to pull the remaining garlic mustard, and then we will replant the area with an assortment of native flowering and berry-producing shrubs.
We need hardy volunteers who like pulling garlic mustard, and are also happy to dig holes and plant shrubs. It’s an exciting opportunity to transform this property.
Please RSVP to biodiversity@sydenhambrucetrail.ca if you plan to attend. Full details will be sent via email to registered volunteers.

2026 Sydenham Bruce Trail Club End-to-End Hike Series
April – October 2026
The SBTC is proud to host 4 End-to-End series in 2026 including 3 that are being offered for the very first time!

End-to-End in 8
Take on the challenge!
Eight unforgettable hikes of between 19 km and 23 km per day spread across four weekends – May 2nd & 3rd , Jun 5th & 6th , Sept 12th & 13th , and Oct 3rd & 4th. Each hike day includes bus transportation in the morning from the hike finish back to the starting point, so you can focus on the trail ahead.
While the hikes are self-guided, a dedicated sweeper will be on the trail each day to assist participants. You’ll also find 1–2 volunteer-manned checkpoints along the route, stocked with water and snacks to keep you fueled.
Complete all eight hikes and earn the exclusive Official Sydenham End to End badge — a true mark of achievement. Cost: $150 per hiker. If you have any questions, please contact series organizer, William (Bill) Snel.

End-to-End in 16
Complete the Sydenham section of the Bruce Trail over 16 hikes. Hikes will take place on Thursdays and Fridays in May, June, September and October. Registration opens Monday March 2, 2026, at 7:00 am to Bruce Trail Members only, at $65.00 per participant. Participation is limited to 15 members (including Hike Leader and Sweep). Fee includes Stained Glass Badge upon successful completion of all hikes and surplus supports the Sydenham Bruce Trail Club’s hike program.
Hikes will have a leader and a sweep. Car shuttles will be used to transport hikers from meeting point (end point of hike) to start point of the hike and all hikers will be expected to participate with transportation and should have a vehicle capable of carrying 5 people. Hikes average 9-12 km per day, with one hike of 13 km. The total distance over the 16 hikes is approximately 167 km. Pace will be leisurely (2-3 km/h). The Series is designed for intermediate hikers, comfortable with a moderate challenge, including longer distances and elevation gains. Full details will be provided to registrants closer to the event dates. If you have any questions, please contact Hike Coordinator, Anne Woodhouse at awoodhouse.bthikeleader@gmail.com.

Scenic Sydenham Side Trails Series
New in 2026, an End-to-End series of 46 Scenic Sydenham Side Trails, totalling 117 km over 9 days of hiking. Earn a brand-new badge! Hikes will be on Mondays and Tuesdays in April, May, June, September and October – enjoying the fresh air of three seasons in beautiful Sydenham.
Each day, several Side Trails will be explored, shuttling in hikers’ vehicles from one to the other. Daily distances are between 9-15 km, in an intimate group of only 10 hikers. The pace is brisk and strenuous, and the terrain, while variable, could be muddy, rocky, and steep. What’s not to like about that? Full details of hikes will be provided to registrants closer to the event dates. If you have any questions, please contact series organizer and Certified Hike Leader Fran Turner.

SBTC/PBTC Trail Run
The Sydenham Bruce Trail Club (SBTC), in partnership with the Peninsula Bruce Trail Club (PBTC), is excited to offer its first-ever trail running Sydenham End-to-End series in 2026. Join the fun and earn a specially-designed trail running SBTC E2E badge! The trail running Sydenham E2E series will take place over 4 weekends (8 days) in May, covering ~19-23 km per day. The group will meet and park at the end of each day’s route, with bus transportation provided in the morning to the starting point.
The fee has been reduced to $60 for the series or single day registration for $20. This fee covers bus transportation (at a weekend rate), snacks, and the new SBTC E2E badge. Any surplus funds will support the PBTC hike program.
These are group trail runs. It is not a race. It is not a hike. There may be a couple different pace groups that naturally form, but you will be expected to stay with a group and wait to regroup at key locations. Runners are expected to remain between the lead runner and the sweep at all times. Anticipate each day to be running for about 3+/- hours, at a pace ranging from 7-9 min/km.
